Audrey Hotka, 5, kept a tight grip on her mom's hand as she wore her pink glasses over a navy blue mask with white dots while walking to the drop-off door at Great Lakes Elementary School in Superior on Wednesday, Sept. 1.
It was Hotka's first day of kindergarten. She will be in Mrs. Herubin's class this year.
"She wasn't too nervous this morning," said Emma Hotka, Audrey's mom, as she watched her daughter walk through the doors into the school. "It really helped that she did summer school here, so it's not totally new for her."
School started Wednesday for all students in the school district, with students in grades K-6 required to wear masks.
