The University of Wisconsin-Superior welcomes 200 students from more than 12 schools for its 44th annual High School Math Meet 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in the Yellowjacket Union Great Room.
"The history of this event is special because of the faithful participation and ownership by local high school teachers," said Heather Kahler, senior lecturer, mathematics and computer science and member of the Math Meet Committee for the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
At the event, regional high school students will compete in team and individual mathematical challenges. Participants face problems that involve calculus, algebra II and analytical geometry, trigonometry and elementary functions, plane geometry, and probability and statistics. Trophies and cash prizes are awarded.
