The Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin-Superior will receive the state’s 2020 Small Business Development Center of Excellence and Innovation Award.

The award from the Wisconsin district of the U.S. Small Business Administration recognizes the UW-Superior SBDC and its director, Andy Donahue, “for 100 percent client satisfaction and meeting goals for the past three years,” according to a news release.

The SBDC helps businesses start, manage and grow through free, confidential consulting and education. In 2018, the center helped 81 clients, leading to 10 new businesses, 64 new jobs and $4.19 million in capital investment, the release said.

The UW-Superior office, located in Erlandson Hall, is one of 13 Wisconsin SBDC centers that helped generate more than $101 million in capital investment in 2018.

The award will be officially celebrated during National Small Business Week next spring.
