A Duluth man accused of possessing child pornography made an initial appearance in Douglas County Circuit Court last week. Brooks Anthony Hanson, 31, faces felony charges of possession of child pornography, first-degree child sex assault and exposing a child to harmful material. The charges stem from incidents in 2012 when he lived in the town of Superior.

According to the criminal complaint:

An investigation of online peer-to-peer file-sharing by the Minnesota Cybercrime Task Force pinpointed Hanson's computer as one that had downloaded child pornography files between September and October 2012. A search warrant was executed at Hanson's address and seven computer files containing child pornography of a known child victim were found on his computer.

Hanson also is accused of showing a 6-year-old pornography, touching the child's private area and having the child touch his private parts in the spring of 2012.

Cash bail of $1,000 was set. Hanson was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim, the child's parents or their residence.
