The Douglas County Deer Advisory Council has scheduled a pair of meetings.

During the first meeting, 5-8 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Superior Public Library, the council discusses establishing deer herd goals for the next three years. Options will be to increase, decrease or maintain the population in Douglas County.

We will also consider splitting the county into two deer management units to establish quotas and permits as moving forward.

New metrics and information will be available.

There will be opportunities for people to share opinions by surveys prior to the second meeting, where decisions and final recommendations will be made. The second meeting runs 5-8 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Superior Public Library.
