The Superior Police Department is seeking information on gunshots fired around the 1300 block of North Sixth Street over the weekend.

No shots have been reported in the area over the last several days, according to Public Information Officer Bradley Jago, but officers found roughly a dozen shell casings in the middle of the street Sunday, Aug. 30 while responding to a vandalism complaint.

The vandalism was reported at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday. A man called to report the front tire on his SUV appeared to have been slashed. There was a small hole in the front fender of the SUV that may have been caused by a stray bullet, Jago said, and officers located approximately a dozen shell casings in the middle of the street. The casings appeared to have been in the street for a while, so it is unknown exactly when the incident occurred.

As far as police could determine, the only damage done was to the front tire and fender of the SUV. That damage occurred sometime between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon when officers were dispatched.

Any neighbors who heard shooting or observed anything suspicious in that area between 4 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday, are asked to contact the Superior Police Department by dialing 911. Information can also be submitted anonymously through Tip411 by texting “spdtip” followed by their tip, to 847411 (TIP411) or by visiting https://www.citizenobserver.com/tips/new?alert_group_id=3214.
