A Lake Nebagamon man will serve eight years in prison for seuxally assaulting a child.
Eric Lee Jeter Sr., 41, pleaded no contest Nov. 22 in Douglas County Circuit Court to an amended count of second degree sexual assault of a child. He was sentenced Jan. 17 to eight years in state prison and six years of extended supervision.
Jeter reportedly cuddled, kissed and inappropriately touched a child under the age of 13 at a Superior residence. Officers who responded to the apartment reported a strong odor of intoxicants was coming from Jeter.
Jeter was ordered to register as a sex offender, have no contact with the victim and no contact with anyone under the age of 18 unless approved by his probation agent. Charges of battery and disorderly conduct from a separate incident were dismissed but read in for sentencing.
Jeter filed notice with the Clerk of Courts Office Jan. 22 that he intends to appeal the sentence.
