Charges against a town of Summit man accused of punching a Superior city councilor during an Aug. 8, 2018, fight were dismissed last month in Douglas County Circuit Court.

Jeremy Richard Browen, 43, was facing misdemeanor counts of battery and disorderly conduct for punching Keith Kern, who represents Superior's 9th District. Assistant District Attorney Angela Wilson stated in her Aug. 29 motion to dismiss the charges that Browen has paid $2,000 restitution to the victim.

Three other people were cited for disorderly conduct in connection with the incident, which took place outside a tavern in Superior’s Billings Park neighborhood. All three of them — Adam Troy Johnson, 39, of Duluth; Superior's 8th District Councilor Craig James Sutherland, 34; and Hannah J. Norlin, 22, of Litchfield, Minnesota — pleaded no contest to an amended city ordinance violation of possession of an open container of intoxicating liquor on the public right of way.

Norlin and Sutherland pleaded Jan. 3; Johnson made his plea April 22. Each was fined $200.50.
