2 sex offenders set for release in Superior; community meeting Thursday
The Superior Police Department announced the release of two sex offenders in the community. A community meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, to discuss the release of one of them.
Walter J. Lange, 44, is moving to a residence at 3010 E. Fourth St. on Thursday, Feb. 7. Lange was found not guilty by reason of mental defect for the sexual assault of a child younger than 16 years of age in Chippewa County in May 2012. The victim was a juvenile female who knew Lange.
He was previously convicted of exposing genitals to a child older than 16 and second-degree sexual assault of child. He is required to be lifetime GPS monitoring.
Lange is the topic of discussion for the community meeting. He is described as 6-foot-4, 230 pounds with blue eyes and blond hair.
Jesse L. Thompson, 41, was convicted of third-degree sexual assault in Eau Claire County in May 2000. The victim was a juvenile female who knew Thompson. He was sentenced to five years in prison and five years extended supervision.
He has since been convicted three times of failing to update his information with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry.
Thompson is described as 5-foot-5, 154 pounds with blue eyes and red hair. His release to 1620 N. 16th St. is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 12.
