The Superior High School boys hockey team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 5-3 win over the New Richmond Tigers Saturday afternoon at Wessman Arena.
Senior Brian Crawford scored three goals as the Spartans rebounded from a 5-1 loss at Eau Claire Memorial on Dec. 2.
The Spartans also got goals from senior Brian Pierpont and junior Mike Plummer and two assists each from freshman Chris Bishop and sophomore Pat Dalbec.
The teams traded goals in the first period as Crawford scored at 7:13 and New Richmond's Aaron Pfeuger scored at 7:13.
Pierpont gave the Spartans the lead back 3:43 into the second and period and Crawford made it 3-1 at 4:47.

New Richmond knotted it back up with goals by Jared Ellevold, on a power play at 7:41, and Jack Calleja with 53 seconds left in the second period.
Plummer scored the eventual game-winning goal on a power play 4:43 into the third period and Crawford helped seal the win with his third goal with 6:48 remaining.
Kyle Johnson finished with 20 saves for Superior and Tanner Milliron had 29 saves for New Richmond.
The Spartans are back at home at 8 p.m. Tuesday against Hermantown. Superior will also play at Wisconsin Rapids at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
