Clem William Miller, 86, of Hermantown died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, in Edgewood Vista.

Clem was born in Duluth on May 5, 1922, to Elmer and Marie (Bergquist) Miller. He graduated from Central High School in 1940 and married Marion E. Rogers in 1946 in Kansas City.

Clem served in the Army's 125th Artillery. He served in Africa and Italy. He earned five battle stars from Tunisia to the Po Valley.

He published a book about the war called "Some Things You Never Forget."

Clem retired in 1984 after 35 years of service in sales for Kraft Foods. Clem was the 125th group historian. He liked his flower garden, fishing, boating and enjoying time with his family at the Lake Edwards cabin. He was in the golf leagues at Enger and Lester Park and a member of the North Lakes Golfing Association, and former member of the Duluth Combined Honor Guard. Clem was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marion E., in 2002; his brothers, Gordy and Russell; and his sister, Florence Lyle.

Clem is survived by his son, Daniel (Georgia) Miller of Duluth; his daughter, Kay (Rodney) Edwards of Gordon; two grandchildren, Sally (Odin) Oase and Gina (Jeff) Kreager and four great-grandchildren, Ben, Cora, Erik, and Jenna; his brothers, Jim of Minneapolis and George (Myrt) of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and his sister, June Ludwigson of Duluth.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Saturday in Christ Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Sunrise Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard.

Bell Brothers Funeral Home is assisting the family.
