Superior Parks & Recreation Division is looking for individuals or groups to adopt gardens in neighborhood parks.

"Adopting a garden consists of making a commitment to plant flowers and remove weeds in the garden during the course of the summer season," said Mary Morgan, Parks & Recreation Administrator. The city, in turn, will honor the volunteer effort by placing a sign near the garden that identifies the caregivers.

"Although the city has had significant volunteer efforts in park gardens in the past, quite a number of gardens have become available for adoption," said Morgan. Gardens available for the 2010 season include Kelly Park, 711 Grand Ave.; Webster Park, 5718 Tower Ave.; Hammond Park, 1920 Hammond Ave.; Harbor View Park, 301 E. Second St.; and Veterans Flag garden on the waterfront at Belknap Street and East Second St.

To adopt a park garden, call (715) 395-7279.
