A friend of mine had his house bought by the city and is scheduled to be demolished as part of a business district expansion. Until the city demolishes it, they have allowed him to get anything he wants out of the house. As part of that deal, he allowed me to pull all the wood trim out so that I can use it in my house.
This got me thinking about what God does in our lives. He desires to rip out, take out, and generally remove things in our lives in order to rebuild us into the people that He initially created us to be.
All of us are scheduled for demolition, that is, death. And just like my friend allowed me to come and take the trim, we have to allow God into our lives and remove the things in our lives that are keeping us from living a fruitful and productive Christian life.
God is a gentleman. He won't force His way in your life. However, if we choose not to allow Him in, we can not expect to receive any of the benefits that He can bring. Won't you allow Him to remove the excess and the garbage in your life?
