Letters to the editor that are critical of those who believe God's word are of no surprise to Christians. God's inspired words through the Apostle Paul warn us that "all who desire to live godly in Jesus Christ will suffer persecution."
Thus, the Aug. 22 letter critical of Mayor Dave Ross' failure to "endorse or welcome the Pride Festival" or Councilor Chuck Hendry's "kowtowing to Christians" comes as no great shock. God speaks to us through the prophet Isaiah saying, "Woe unto them who call evil, good, and good, evil. Christians expect accelerating apostacy. The Apostle Paul warns that "the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine.
The Bible clearly condemns homosexual behavior. Most people, including practicing homosexuals, know this. For the few who don't, the books of Leviticus, Romans and First Corinthians provide excellent reference. Human anatomy also provides obvious clues. Clearly, ignorance of the truth is not the problem.
It's been my observation that those who are quick to accuse others of hate-mongering usually harbor considerable hate. Personally, I don't know anyone who hates homosexuals and I don't much care whether people choose to destroy themselves through homosexual sin. I respect individual liberty. But, God loves you and desires that you be saved through faith in Jesus Christ. Once saved, He desires that we sin no more.
