Carol V. Nyberg, 69, of South Range, formerly of Virginia, Minn., died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Golden Living Center, Superior, following a lengthy illness.

Carol V. Nyberg, 69, of South Range, formerly of Virginia, Minn., died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at Golden Living Center, Superior, following a lengthy illness.

She was born Sept. 14, 1937, in Spooner, daughter of Helen (Scanlon) and Kenneth Platz.

Carol graduated from Superior East High School in 1956.

On Sept. 27, 1958, she married Keith Nyberg in Pine City, Minn.

For over 25 years she was the owner and operator of Carol's Lettering Shop, Virginia, Minn.

Her memberships and special interests included South Range Presbyterian Church, sewing, taking care of her houseplants, fishing, attending stock car races and her top priority was spending time with her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Helen Griffin, Marvin Griffin and Kenneth Platz; and brother-in-law, Bonar Carlson.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Keith Nyberg; sons, Tim (Sheila) Nyberg, Virginia, Minn. and Steve (Erin Blake) Nyberg, Biwabik, Minn.; grandsons, Paul and Alex Nyberg, Virginia, Minn., and Nicholas Nyberg, Biwabik, Minn.; siblings, Pat Carlson, Superior; Ted (Patricia) Platz, Chisago City, Minn.; Marvin (Yvonne) Griffin Jr., Bloomington, Minn.; Betty LaValley, Rice Lake;, Carol (Ray) Peters, Duluth; Bonnie Bruce, New Hope, Minn.; David (Donna) Griffin, Duluth; and Kathy (Bill) Kadlecek, Superior; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Thursday at Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Avenue and North 19th Street, Superior, with Deacon James McCusker of Bethel Lutheran Church officiating.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Golden Living Center, Superior, for their care and concern.
