The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center, in partnership with Kernz & Kompany, offers a unique Twin Ports calendar for the third year in a row. Most Twin Ports residents will recognize the people featured each month.
The calendar titled "Celebrating Their Service" pays homage to local historical photos taken during World War II. The calendar uses these historical images and inserts well-known Duluth and Superior residents to re-create the famous images.
The calendars are available for $10 at any Super One Foods stores at the customer service desk.
"This is one of the very few fundraisers that the Bong Veterans Center does and because of the uniqueness of the calendar we hope that the calendar project will help fund many of the things that the Bong Veterans Center does in support of area veterans," Kern said.
The calendar features some notable community members including Kern, Alan Klapmeier of Kestrel Aircraft, Steve Burgess of National Bank of Commerce, Daniel Fanning of the city of Duluth, Lorraine Little of Enbridge Energy, John Driscoll of ZMC, Jim Paquette of Canal Park Lodge, Terry Mattson of Visit Duluth, Barb Reyelts of KBJR, Peggy Hanson of the Minnesota Power Foundation, Cathy Casper of Keyport Liquor & Lounge, John Nys of Johnson, Killen, & Seiler, Dr. Camille Zielen of Mount Royal Dentistry, John Conway of Superior Glass, Joe Fischer of St. Louis County Attorney's Office, Abbott Apter of Mercury Investments, and Pat Kelly of KDAL Radio.
