Approximately 70 participants will convene at James S. Malosky Stadium

Monday for the opening of the University of Minnesota Duluth's spring football drills.

Head coach Bob Nielson, who is embarking on his eighth season with the Bulldogs, welcomes back 52 lettermen (including six starters on offense and six on defense) from last fall, when UMD captured its second straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference title and earned its second NCAA Division II playoff berth in as many years.

The Bulldogs will practice 15 times during the next four weeks, culminating with their 36th annual Maroon-White Game on April 24.
