A Duluth boy died Monday after being pulled from a swimming pool at the Best Western Bridgeview Motor Inn, 415 Hammond Ave., late Saturday night.
Dead is Ronny Adamich, 7, a native of Grand Rapids, Minn. He is the son of Joseph Adamich and Jessica Powell.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the Bridgeview at 11:25 p.m., according to a statement by Sgt. Daniel Hawkin III of the Superior Police Department. They arrived to find two young boys lying beside the hotel pool being given CPR. Adult guests and family were tending to the two boys, according to Hawkin's statement. The boys, both from Duluth, were transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
One of the boys, who had been visiting motel guests, was removed from life support Monday night. He was 7 years old. An autopsy is expected to be conducted this week. The other boy is alive, but no condition report was available, said Capt. Chad La Lor, who declined to identify the victims.
The incident remains under investigation. A number of people who were poolside at the time have yet to be interviewed, La Lor said.

No lifeguard was on duty. By state law, a lifeguard is not required for a pool with a surface area of less than 2,000 square feet, according to Patrick Heiser, environmental health supervisor with the Douglas County Department of Health and Human Services.
According to Superior Fire Chief Tad Matheson, there previously have been drownings at Superior pools. The most recent, he said, was within the past 10 years.
Water in the Bridgeview's kidney-shaped pool is 3-feet deep in the shallow end goes to a depth of 7 feet at the deep end. The pool is open to guests, including children, until midnight on weekends. According to hotel personnel, the pool was reopened Sunday morning. They would not provide The Telegram a copy of an earlier press release.
La Lor indicated there was no foul play suspected, but as a matter of routine, the department investigates any incident that leads to the death of a child.
A visitation for the victim is scheduled from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Friday at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. 2nd St., Duluth.
