The Big Top is kicking off another summer season in a big way.

Yonder Mountain String Band, of Nederland, Colo., starts Big Top Chautauqua's summer season Thursday.

The group merges acoustic bluegrass and old time instrumentation to offer new and nontraditional songs. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. All seats are $30.

At 8:15 p.m. Friday, Ramblin' Jack Elliott and the Blue Canvas Orchestra, as well as Pop Wagner, perform. Reserved tickets are $18 for adults and $8 for students. General admission is $15 for adults and $4 for students.

Chris Thile and the How to Grow a Band, featuring Bryan Sutton, wows the crowd starting at 8:15 p.m. Saturday. Ticket prices range from $16 to $22.

Big Top favorites, Riding the Wind, hit the stage at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Music lovers will appreciate a musical montage and big-screen visual portrait of Bayfield, with secrets of Red Cliff and Old LaPointe, featuring Big Top Chautauqua's Blue Canvas Orchestra.

Reserved tickets are $18 for adults and $8 for students. General admission is $15 for adults and $4 for students.

Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua is a year-round nonprofit performing arts organization. Its summer season begins mid-June and runs through early September, with evening performances Tuesday through Sunday and some children's matinee shows.
