The Spartans, Evergreens and Eagles all saw their seasons come to an end Tuesday night with losses in the WIAA playoffs.

The Northwood Evergreens fell to Luck 9-4 in Minong and Solon Springs boys were defeated by Mellen, 11-2.

The Superior High School baseball team lost in five innings, 12-2, at Menomonie.

In the first inning, Menomonie scored three runs to get in front, but Superior pulled within 3-2 in the top of the fourth. Menomonie then scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth and six in the fifth to end the match early.

For the game, the Spartans had four hits while Menomonie had 16. Kasey Kruse led the way for Menomonie and was also the winning pitcher. He went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and teammate Mike Swanson was also 3-for-4 in the game with two RBIs.

Chris Blake led Superior at the plate with a single, double and one run scored. Sophomore Taylor Olson had an RBI double, and Joe Reichert chipped in with a single. Playing their last game in a Spartan uniform were seniors Blake, Reichert, Lee Nagorski, Dan Tracy, Mike Higgins and Brent Engstrom.
