The Oulu Blue Jays solidified their hold on second place in the Upper 13 Baseball League by sweeping the Superior Lakers 12-3 and 1-0 Sunday in Oulu.

In the first game, Oulu overcame a two-run Laker lead by scoring three in the fourth inning on the strength of RBI doubles from D.J. Lahti and Justin Harriman and three walks.

The Blue Jays chased Lakers starter Mark Erickson with three more in the fifth to make it 7-3 with Jeff Lahti and Harriman again hitting doubles. Oulu finished off the scoring with five more runs in the sixth off of relievers Corey Goblirsch and Brandon Hansen.

Lahti led Oulu on offense, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and Justin Harriman had two hits, both doubles, with three RBIs. Tom Berrisford also had two RBIs for the Jays. For Superior, Ryan Hendry had two hits.

Joe Wicklund got the win going six innings and allowing seven hits while walking six and striking out one. Berrisford finished up pitching for Oulu.

Game two was a pitcher's duel between Oulu's Keith Ritsche and the Lakers' Tim Bouvine for seven innings before Rick Hansen led off the bottom of the seventh with a single for the Blue Jays. Forest Clements was inserted as a pinch runner and Justin Harriman executed a perfect sacrifice bunt to put Clements into scoring position. David Tafelski then delivered the winning hit into the gap in right-center field driving in the only run of the game.

Ritsche got the win, giving up six hits while walking two and striking out seven. Bouvine took the loss, giving up only three hits while walking two, hitting two batters and striking out two. Greg Aker and Brent Calore each had two hits for Superior.

Oulu is now 11-4 in Upper 13 League paly and 14-6 overall. The Blue Jays are off until July 31 when they will travel to Ordean Field for a 6 p.m. non-conference game with the Duluth Xpress.

SCR 4, Spooner Cardinals 3

The St. Croix Ravens found themselves in an all too familiar position Sunday evening in Solon Springs: trailing with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

After playing to a 2-2 tie through eight innings, Spooner third baseman Matt Daniels came through with a two-out RBI single in the top of the ninth to give the Cardinals a 3-2 lead.

Vinny Viggiano led off the SCR half of the ninth with a walk from Cardinals' starter Jeremy Bloomquist. Josh Villella came on in relief for Bloomquist and promptly walked RJ Keur. Rich Hailey served as a pinch runner for Keur.

A fielder's choice, a walk and a strikeout left the bases loaded with two outs for Kris Minor. Minor took a 3-2 pitch low to draw an RBI walk, tying the game. Ryan Sepion followed with a high infield-chopper and beat shortstop Dave Ferguson's throw with a head-first slide into first base, scoring Hailey and giving the Ravens their third walk-off win of the season.

Sepion led the Ravens' offense, going 3-for-5 with an RBI, while Tony Visger added two hits.

Jake Lambert (4-2) struck out ten while allowing three earned runs on nine hits for the complete game win.

SCR (17-8 overall, 9-2 conference) travels to Hayward Saturday to take on the Hawks in non-conference action at 7 p.m. before traveling to Cumberland on Sunday for a league-matchup with the Islanders at 1 p.m.
