The Superior Blues swept Proctor in a doubleheader Tuesday night at Proctor, 9-1 and 16-2 in five innings.

Mike Higgins went the distance in the opener, allowing one earned run off of five hits while striking out 11 and walking two.

Offensively for Superior, Neil Baltes went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run. Brent Engstrom and Cory Wilander also doubled.

In game two, Wilander and Kellen McCoshen combined to no-hit Proctor. Wilander struck out seven and McCoshen three.

Offensively, Baltes went 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Jake Bachinski also contributed with four RBIs and Lee Nagorski, Jordan Olson, Wilander and Bachinski (2) all doubled for Superior.

Wilander's double was his 12th on the season tying the Blue's record (Jay Paxton) for 12 in a season.

The Blues, now 15-11 on the season, return to action at 1 p.m. today at Duluth East VFW.
