Wisconsin's back-to-school sales tax holiday begins Wednesday, Aug. 1 and runs through Sunday, Aug. 5. During that time, Wisconsin stores will not charge sales tax on school supplies that meet certain criteria: Each item or piece of clothing must cost $75 or less, computers must cost $750 or less and computer supplies $250 or less.
The Wisconsin Better Business Bureau encourages families to make a list before they shop to avoid impulse buys and check for items left over from last school year that could be reused.
To make the most of their money, families can compaire prices, save coupons and redeem cash-back or rebate offers while school shopping. Bulk shopping and student discounts can also lower the cost of back-to-school shopping.
