City residents can petition to have their gravel alleys paved. And petitions for next year's paving projects are due June 29.
Homeowners abutting the alley are assessed the cost, which is placed on the property tax bill over a 10-year period.
Residents who would like to have their alley paved must obtain a petition form/blacktopping policy from the Public Works Department on the second floor of the Government Center, 1316 N. 14th St. A minimum of 51 percent of the abutting property owners must sign the petition for it to be considered.
Petitions received after June 29 will be processed for the 2009 paving season.
