Allen C. Carlson

Allen C. Carlson 68, Superior, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, in Solvay Hospice House in Duluth. He was born April 24, 1939, in Minneapolis and was raised in Duluth where he graduated from Duluth Denfeld High School.

He served with the U.S. Air Force. Allen was a member of the Elks clubs in both Superior and Duluth. He also was a member the Institute of Management Accountants, where he was a national director, and a member of the Stuart Cameron McCloud Society. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling in the leagues in Duluth and Superior.

He retired from Brown Automatic Fire Sprinkler Co., in Tampa Bay, Fla., as an accountant and most recently did consulting work. He lived in Florida for 18 years and also had resided in Barnes.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (Bolk) of Superior; his stepchildren, Deborah (Ken) Lisdahl, Superior, and Douglas Bolk, Largo, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Debra Bolk, Lakeland, Fla.; his grandchildren, Christopher Hopkins, Leah Bolk and Danielle Barrios; two great-grandchildren, Anja and Elijah Barrios; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tim and Nancy Leland of Duluth, and Kenneth and Faye Wasco of Kansas City, Mo.; and his cousins.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Elsie Carlson; and a stepson, James Bolk.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Downs Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Garnatz officiating. Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
