The case of a Superior man accused of rocketing through the city at 100 mph will move on to an arraignment in July.

Jason James Myers, 20, 1712 N. 21st St., faces one felony charge of attempting to flee or elude a traffic officer. The charge stems from a high-speed chase the evening of May 8 Duluth and Superior police officers.

According to the criminal complaint, a car driven by Myers had been reported speeding in the East End, South Superior and downtown before police began to chase it. After running stop signs, Myers drove over the Blatnik Bridge to Duluth. Pursuit was picked up in Duluth and Myers then drove back across the bridge to Superior. Stop sticks were used at the base of the bridge. The car ran over them at an estimated 100 mph. At least seven squad cars were involved in the chase before Myers stopped at North Eighth Street and Baxter Avenue.

Myers waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday in Douglas County Court. He also gave not guilty pleas to traffic citations for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, operating after suspension and endangering safety by reckless driving. The felony charge carries a maximum penalty of three years and six months imprisonment and a $10,000 fine.
