A Deer Park man was cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated after an accident left two of his passengers in the hospital on Monday.

At around 3:35 p.m. Michael Wilson, 20, was driving northbound on Polk County A in the town of Clear Lake near the intersection of 10th Street when the pickup he was driving hit the gravel shoulder and then flipped multiple times, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Department.

Wilson said he turned the truck in order to avoid going into the ditch.

William Sabanjo, 19, Richfield, Minn., and Andrew White, 22, Amery, were both riding in the bed of the pickup and were thrown from the vehicle. Both were taken to the Amery Regional Medical Center.

The hospital would not comment on their condition.
