A Polk County man was killed and a teenager critically injured following a traffic crash involving a motorcycle and a commercial vehicle Thursday, Aug. 12, in Superior.

The crash happened at 3:06 p.m. at the intersection of Ogden Avenue and Broadway Street, according to a news release from Superior Public Information Officer Bradley Jago.

The 58-year-old motorcycle driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. His 15-year-old passenger was transported by ambulance to Essentia Health-Duluth in critical condition.

The driver of the commercial cargo box truck, a 32-year-old man, was cited for failing to yield the right of way. The incident remains under investigation, and the names of those involved in the crash were not released.

“Members of the Superior Police Department extend their deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased and the injured juvenile,” Jago said.
