Authorities released the name of man who died and the names of two others who were injured in a head-on vehicle crash Thursday in Ashland County.

Driver Ted Sawaryn, 40, of Hurley, Wisconsin, was airlifted to a Duluth hospital where he died. His passenger, Pamela Sawaryn, 63, of Hurley, and the other driver, Noah Parrett, 18, of Merrill, Wisconsin, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The Wisconsin State Patrol and Ashland County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle crash with serious injuries at about 11:40 a.m. on U.S. Highway 2 at Alder Street, about 15 miles east of Ashland.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, a 2008 Ford F-150, driven by Parrett, was heading west on U.S. Highway 2 when the vehicle traveled into the eastbound lane and struck a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu head-on driven by Ted Sawaryn. Pamela Sawaryn was a passenger in the Malibu.

The crash remains under investigation by the State Patrol.
