One injured when semi strikes Iron River home

One person was injured when a semi tractor trailer struck a house along US Highway 2 in Iron River Thursday morning.

The driver of the semi tractor had to be extricated from the vehicle, according to a release from the WIsconsin State Patrol, and appeared to have suffered non life-threatening injuries.

There was one person in a back room of the home at the time of the crash, but they were uninjured.

According to the release, the semi tractor trailer unit was westbound on Highway 2 when it crossed the eastbound lane, drifted off the roadway and struck the residence at 8165 US HIghway 2.

The crash, which took place at 8:55 a.m. near District Avenue in Iron River, remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol., but the operator of the semi tractor trailer is being cited for operating left of center.
