The home that belonged to the Closs family in Barron, Wisconsin has been torn down, Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald told KSTP-TV.

Jayme Closs was abducted from the home in October of last year after her parents, Denise and James Closs, were murdered. It took 88 days before Jayme was able to escape from her kidnapper, Jake Patterson. He was sentenced to life in prison in May.

During Patterson's sentencing, Jayme said she couldn't return to the house. "I felt safe in my home and I loved my room and all of my belongings. He took all of that," she said in a letter she wrote that was read by a guardian in court. "I don't want to even see my home or my stuff because of the memory of that night. My parents and my home were the most important things in my life."
