Earth Rider, P&R Properties earn Chamber awards
Earth Rider Brewery earned the New Business of the Year Award at the 2018 Chamber Business Awards Thursday. P&R Properties Twin Ports LLC won the Outstanding Young Business Award and Superior Animal Hospital earned the Community Cornerstone Award.
The event was presented by Halvor Lines Inc. and hosted at the Yellowjacket Union at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
More than 200 community members, business leaders, local and state officials gathered to honor the winners.
In addition to the three businesses, Linnae Currie of Superior Choice Credit Union was presented with the Chamber Ambassador of the Year Award.
An independent panel of judges selected the winners based on nominations made by community members and business leaders. The three businesses were chosen from a pool more than 20 nominees, according to the Superior-Douglas County Chamber of Commerce.
The new business award is presented to a business that has opened in Superior or Douglas County within the past year. To be nominated for the Outstanding Young Business Award, the business must be a member of the Chamber and have been in operation within the Twin Ports community for less than 20 years. The Community Cornerstone Award honors businesses that have been long standing members of the community. To be eligible to win, a business must be a member of the Chamber, have operations within the community and have been in operation for more than 20 years.
In 2016, Happy Tails Animal Hospital, GreenLight Fitness and Center for Muscle and Joint Therapy were awarded the New Business of the Year, Outstanding Young Business, and Community Cornerstone awards, respectively. More than 30 businesses were nominated for the awards in 2016.
