A late night fire Monday caused about $10,000 in damage to a South Superior home, according to the Superior Fire Department.

The fire department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to 5410 Hammond Ave. at 11:09 p.m. on a report of a structure fire in an attached garage.

Upon arrival, all occupants were out of the structure. Crews found smoke coming from the attic area above the garage and fire showing on the exterior of the garage wall. The fire was extinguished quickly and the exterior wall was opened in order to extinguish the foam insulation, which was still burning under the siding; crews were also looking for any extension.

There were no reported injuries and no fire, smoke, or water damage occurred to the living areas of the home. Three engines, 10 firefighters and a battalion chief responded.

The fire's cause remains under investigation.
