Superior Days planning begins

With the next Superior Days less than six months away, initial planning begins this month.

A kick-off meeting begins at 6 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Douglas County Government Center, Room 270.

Past delegates and those interested in learning more about Superior Days are encouraged to attend. Committees for the 2017 Superior Days will be formed, and members recruited.

Special emphasis this year will be on three committees — delegate recruitment, fundraising and Parade of Products.

"We are looking to return the Parade of Products, but also looking to rebrand to something like the Northwest Wisconsin Showcase," said coordinator James Anderson, based on delegate evaluations received from 2016 Superior Days. This rebranding will encompass the variety of products, service businesses and public agencies that have expressed an interest in being a part of Superior Days, he said.

Delegates interested in serving on this or any other committee may express interest at the kickoff meeting, or by contacting Superior Days at 715-395-1363 or visiting

The 32nd Superior Days is scheduled for Feb. 21-22, based at the Madison Concourse Hotel.

Superior Days started in 1985 by Douglas County and the city of Superior to address the unique needs of the area. Since then it has expanded to include delegates from Bayfield, Ashland, and Iron counties. Sharon Krause, 4-H and youth development educator, coordinates youth delegates for Superior Days. Schools or youth interested should contact or call 715-395-1365.
