Superior High School's Nolan Holcombe, Brett Bukowski and Daniel Litchke were named to the Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association 2012 All-State Hockey team as well as to the Lake Superior Conference All-Conference Hockey Team for the 2011-12 season.
Bukowski, a senior defenseman, was named first-team all-state and second team All-LSC; Holcombe was an honorable mention pick on the all-state team and a second team all-LSC pick; and Litchke, a junior was named honorable mention on both teams.
Also honored from Superior was senior Brady Uotinen, who was named an honorable mention defenseman on the all-state team.
As a team, the Spartans are the Section 1 Academic Champions with a 3.81 grade point average. Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells, coached by former Superiorite Neil Mattson and Jerry Klosowski, were the academic state champs with a 3.86 GPA.
Bukowski was also a WHCA Player of the Year finalist, which was won by Rice Lake's Kody Novinski and former Superiorite Mike Cowan won the George Baumann Friends of Hockey Away. Cowan is currently the head coach of the Marian University women's hockey team.
