An adult female suspect was arrested Friday night in connection with a hit-and-run involving an 11-year-old bicyclist.

The Superior Police Department said it arrested the woman around 11 p.m. Friday in connection with the incident.

An 11-year-old boy was transported to a nearby hospital for his injuries after being hit near Hammond Avenue and North 12th Street. The Superior Fire Department, Superior Police Department and a Mayo Clinic Ambulance all responded to the report around 2:50 p.m. Friday.

The extent of the bicyclist's injuries are not known, according to the department.

Witnesses said a woman drove a maroon or red SUV, which struck the bicyclist and then left the scene before emergency personnel arrived, a news release said.

The incident is still under investigation.
