COTTAGE GROVE, Minn. -- Three people were injured late Friday when a limousine was struck on U.S. Highway 61 in Cottage Grove, southeast of St. Paul.

The limo was attempting to turn off the highway when it bottomed out, became stuck on the roadway and was hit by two northbound vehicles, according to the Cottage Grove Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.

The limo was trying to turn into an entrance to Zywiec’s Haunting Experience near Kingsborough Trail about 9:30 p.m. when the crash occurred.

Northbound Highway 61 was closed for a time and traffic was detoured.

According to Cottage Grove police and the State Patrol:

A northbound Dodge Avenger driven by Carla A. Lawrence, 58, of St. Paul, was in the right lane and struck the limo. A northbound Hyundai Tiburon, driven by 20-year-old Alyssa M. Stadtler, of Hastings, was in the right lane and could not change lanes in time to avoid hitting the limo, according to the State Patrol, which was investigating the crash.

Three limo passengers were transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with injuries ranging from minor to critical. Hanna J. Linderholm, 23, of New Prague, suffered serious injuries. Jamie M. Marshall, 26, of Chanhassen, and Jeremy L. Franklund, 31, of Northfield, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol report.

Linderholm was in good condition Saturday morning, according to a hospital spokesman.

There were 10 passengers in the Chrysler 300 limo. The driver, Randy W. Smith, 52, of Eagan, was not injured.
