Three Duluth men are facing felony charges in connection with an Oct. 18 shooting in Superior’s north end bar district.
The charges, and an arrest warrant for one of the men, were filed Monday, Nov. 2, in the Douglas County Clerk of Courts Office. An arrest warrant for the third man was filed Thursday, Nov. 5.
Keyon Lavell Iron Dunn, 22, faces felony counts of first-degree reckless injury and first-degree recklessly endangering safety, both with use of a dangerous weapon. He made his initial appearance in Douglas County Circuit Court on Monday. A cash bond of $20,000 was continued for Dunn, who was ordered to have no contact with the victim and not possess any firearms. He remained in custody at the Douglas County Jail.

Arrest warrants were issued for Randy Coleman, 22, and JaVontae Laquel Harkins, 25. Coleman faces one count of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon. Harkins faces counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety and possession of a firearm by an outstate felon.

The charges stem from an incident reported Oct. 18 where shots were fired outside Lady Vi's club in the 600 block of Tower Avenue. A bullet struck one man in the leg and remains permanently lodged there, according to the criminal complaints.
Surveillance footage from nearby businesses showed three men firing pistols outside Lady Vi’s at about 2:10 a.m. Oct. 18. A man wearing a tie-dyed sweatshirt, later identified as Dunn, was seen removing a pistol from what appeared to be a pocket and firing a leveled shot. A second man dressed in black, identified as Coleman, fired a gun into the air. The third man, identified as Harkins, was seen running across the intersection. He turned and a flash was seen coming from his right hand. Shell casings were found at that spot, the criminal complaints said.
Dunn and Coleman ran to a vehicle and fled the scene with others; Harkin got into a party bus and left the scene.
A week later, Superior police officers observed Dunn in the vicinity of Lady Vi’s dressed in the same tie-dyed sweatshirt as the shooter from the video and carrying a satchel. They stopped the vehicle he was seen getting into and identified him. The vehicle was searched and officers found two handguns — one on the floor behind the driver’s seat and a loaded handgun in the satchel Dunn was seen with.
The bullet fired at the victim was the same caliber as one of the handguns found in Dunn's possession, the criminal complaints said.
Detective Sean Holmgren identified Coleman as the gunman who shot into the air after viewing Facebook profiles for known members of a gang Dunn was reportedly involved with. A photo on Coleman’s profile taken the night of the shooting showed him wearing the same clothing as the shooter all in black, including a T-shirt with distinctive lettering. Officers also identified Harkins through his Facebook profile. According to the criminal complaint, Harkins has a felony conviction in Minnesota for third-degree assault.
All three men are facing a maximum sentence of 12.5 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $25,000 for the first-degree recklessly endangering safety charges. Dunn and Coleman face up to five additional years of imprisonment for crimes involving the use of a dangerous weapon.
Dunn also faces a maximum sentence of 25 years imprisonment for the first-degree reckless injury charge, plus an additional five for use of a dangerous weapon.

Harkins faces a maximum penalty of 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $25,000 for the charge of possessing a firearm as a felon.
Dunn’s next court appearance was set for Wednesday, Nov. 11.
