A group of 13 Superior fire fighters spent their day off Monday clearing trash from the Superior Municipal Forest. The cleanup was conducted along 42nd Street, Billings Drive, the Millennium Trail and the cross country ski trails.
Approximately 2,000 pounds of trash was collected from along the roads and trails. The trash included numerous drink containers, beds, tires, car doors, TVs and just about everything you could imagine.
"As first responders, we care for the health of our community," said Firefighter Camron Vollbrecht. "This cleanup is another way we show our commitment to Superior -- that we care about the people in this community as well as the places that make this our home."
Other firefighters who participated in the cleanup were Erik Sutton, Andy Knutson, Mark Dalbec, Bob Archambault, Tom LeSage, Jeff Baker, Howard Hendrikson, Bruce Smith, Dave Johnson, Neal Dwyer, Steve Smith and Jeff Allen.
