There were 25,763 positive cases of COVID-19 were reported Wednesday, June 24, according to the state Department of Health Services . That's an increase of 432 cases from the day before.
Seven additional people have died from COVID-19 Wednesday, leaving the total number of deaths in the state at 757.
The number of negative tests in the state was 487,803, an increase of 9,638 from the day before.
Northwestern Wisconsin has not reported a positive case of COVID-19 since Friday, June 19, when a fourth case was announced in Washburn County.
Here's a breakdown of the situation in the six-county region as of Wednesday:

Bayfield County
- Active cases: 0
- Deaths: 1

Ashland County

- Deaths: 0
- Total cases reported since pandemic began: 3
- Total negative tests: 701
Burnett County
- Active cases: 0
- Deaths: 1
- Total cases reported since pandemic began: 2
- Total negative tests: 781
Sawyer County
- Active cases: 0
- Deaths: 0
- Total cases reported since pandemic began: 9
- Total negative tests: 1,695
Washburn County
- Active cases: 1
- Deaths: 0
- Total cases reported since pandemic began: 4
- Total negative tests: 1,057
Of the people statewide who have tested positive for the new coronavirus, 13% — or 3,299 people — have been hospitalized because of the virus as of Wednesday. DHS reported that officials don't know the hospitalization history of 7,371 people, or 29%.
Wednesday's report also showed that 78% of those with confirmed cases have recovered from the illness.
Wisconsin's daily testing capacity was 18,335 on Wednesday. An increase in the number of tests being done is one reason for the increase in the number of positive cases. The percentage of positive tests over the last several days was:
- 4% on Thursday, June 18
- 2.5% on Friday, June 19
- 3.8% on Saturday, June 20
- 4.6% on Sunday, June 21
- 3.8% on Monday, June 22
- 2.2% on Tuesday, June 23
- 4.3% on Wednesday, June 24
All of Wisconsin's 72 counties have confirmed cases of the illness.
