Two cooks from Douglas County working at the Lake Winds Café at Essentia Health-Miller Dwan took first place in this year's United Way of Duluth Chili Cook Off.
Keith Allen, a member of the Douglas County Board and nutritional services operational supervisor, and Shannon Linderholm, Sous chef, won first place with a Autumn Pork Chili made with apples and butternut squash.
"Shannon is responsible for the cooking and production of our chili from start to finish," Allen said.
At last year's cook off, Linderholm and Essentia Health Executive Chef Chad Nurminen took first place in the professional division and most unique chili.
This year, Essentia Health-St Mary's Northern Lights Cafe took second place. Participants include Andy Alander and Nick Johnson.
