The University of Wisconsin-Superior Jazz Band hits sweet notes for its annual Valentine's Swing Dance at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Yellowjacket Union Great Room, 1605 Catlin Ave..
The evening includes music from the classic era of big band with songs from Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and Woody Herman. Free swing lessons are included in the price of admission from Keith Miernicki of Twin Ports Dance.
"There's no obligation to dance," said Greg Kehl Moore, professor of music and jazz program director. "You can listen, watch, hang out, relax - we understand that not everybody wants to dance. If you want to, it's really a lot of fun and it's a great date for you and your significant other on Valentine's Day."
Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and free for UWS students.
The University of Wisconsin-Superior music department also hosts an evening of music featuring members of the UWS Faculty Woodwind Quintet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Webb Recital Hall in Holden Fine Arts.
