LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) - George Clooney will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 72nd annual Golden Globes.
The ceremony, to be held January 11 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, is hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
Previous recipients of the lifetime achievement honor include Woody Allen last year and Jodie Foster in 2013.
Clooney, a four-time Golden Globe winner, has been nominated 13 times by the HFPA in his illustrious career and is also a two-time Academy Award winner, most recently as producer of the 2013 best picture winner "Argo."

He has appeared in over 40 films and TV shows since cementing his star status with the 90s TV drama "E.R." before moving on to pursue a career in film. To date, the Lexington, Ky.-born multi-hyphenate has directed five features, including "Good Night and Good Luck," "The Ides of March" and "The Monuments Men."
"I grew up in a family of storytellers," he recently told Variety.
Son of a TV news anchor and nephew to singer Rosemarie Clooney, the former Sexiest Man Alive has become one of Hollywood's most outspoken philanthropists -- he documented the genocide in Darfur in a 2006 film and later testified on Capitol Hill about the crisis in Sudan.
"I like the ability to shine light and make it loud," he said.
The 53 year-old co-owner of Smokehouse Pictures, which he operates with longtime collaborator Grant Heslov, can next be seen in Disney's "Tomorrowland" before reuniting with the Coen brothers on the drama "Hail Caesar!"
Fey and Poehler teased him at last year's Golden Globes, when they referred to best picture nominee "Gravity" as "the story of how GeorgeClooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age."
Clooney is expected to marry this fall.
