The Duluth Airshow found out its been approved to receive the United States Air Force Heritage Flight during this year's Duluth Airshow on Sept. 22-23.
The Heritage Flight features a state-of-the-art fighter and a vintage fighter from a previous decade. This year the F-16 West Coast Demonstration Team out of Hill Air Force Base joins with the P-51 Mustang flown by Vlado Lenoch out of Chicago. This will mark the first time that the F-16 and P-51 have flown together during a Duluth Airshow in Heritage Formation.
"We are very excited to the USAF Heritage Flight. We were one of the 40 or so shows selected out of three hundred applicants," said President Ryan Kern. "We are also still hoping to secure an F-4 Phantom to join the mix, and have been in discussion with the Air Force ... it's a long shot but we are keeping our fingers crossed."
The Duluth Airshow also feature the Canadian Forces Snowbirds that perform their first proper air show in Minnesota since Aug. 3, 1976.
