The county-run transportation service offered to veterans to and from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, ends with the new year.

The service is offered through the Douglas County Veterans Service Office.

"The county made the decision based on ridership numbers and duplication of van service," said Brian Erickson, Douglas County veteran service officer.

The Disabled American Veterans transportation network, which operates at the Twin Ports Veterans Outpatient Clinic, will be the sole transportation provider to get veterans to their medical appointments at the VA Medical Center starting Jan. 2. The service runs Monday through Friday at the Twin Ports clinic parking lot, 3520 Tower Ave.

To schedule a ride, call 715-398-2406 for instructions. Plan ahead for 2019 medical appointments.
