Fire crews searched the home and located the resident on the second floor. He was rescued from the dwelling and transported via Mayo Ambulance to the hospital.

According to neighbors who had gathered down the block, the man has lived in the neighborhood for nearly 25 years.

Crews extinguished the fire, and remained on scene for several hours to ensure that the fire did not extend to other areas of the structure. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Agencies assisting were the Superior Police Department, Mayo Ambulance, and Superior Water Light and Power.
