The Superior High School boys soccer team wrapped up Lake Superior Conference Day on Saturday, Sept. 14, with a 2-1 double-overtime win over Duluth Marshall.
Jakob Kidd, scored both of the Spartans’ goals. The sophomore tied the game at 1-1 in the 61st minute, then scored the game-winner three minutes into the second overtime.
The win improves the Spartans to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the LSC.
Masaki Hirata scored for Marshall in the 11th minute.
Nate Olson was the winning keeper for the Spartans, finishing with 19 saves. Charlie Eginton had 12 saves for Marshall.
Other scores in the LSC event, which was held at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex, were Cloquet-Esko-Carlton over Ashland, 7-1; Proctor blanking Mesabi East, 6-0; and Duluth Denfeld downing Hermantown. 3-2.
The Spartans play at Cloquet at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 17; and host Grand Rapids at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19.
