Award-winning children's author Tracy Nelson Maurer returns to her hometown to read her picture books "Storm Codes" and "John Deere, That's Who!" on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 1 p.m. at the Superior Public Library, 1530 Tower Ave.

The event is free; books are available for purchase and signing. Children will hear stories of hope and determination, with plenty of fun interaction.

"Storm Codes" was inspired by Maurer's late grandfather, Capt. Harvey Almstedt, who was also from the Superior area.

Maurer graduated from Superior Senior High School and has pursued a writing career that now includes more than 100 published books for children and young adults, including the recently published picture book "Noah Webster's Fighting Words."
