The University of Wisconsin-Superior hosts singers from throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota for the 35th Chorfest High School Honor Choir Festival on Nov. 9.
The festival provides a rehearsal and performance experience of choral masterworks, under the baton of newly appointed UWS director of choral activities, Michael Fuchs.
Chorfest commemorates the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I with a 7 p.m. concert in Thorpe Langley Auditorium in Old Main, 1710 Weeks Ave.
UWS choirs perform musical works and poetic texts written during or in response to the Great War, specifically featuring texts by the British poet and soldier Wilfred Owen. The Chorfest Honors Choir and Orchestra perform excerpts from Franz Joseph Haydn's "Missa in tempori belli" (Mass in Time of War) and Z. Randall Stroope's composition "Homeland."
The evening culminates with the Honors Choir, UWS choirs and orchestra performing J.S. Bach's "Dona Nobis Pacem" from the "Mass in B Minor."
Tickets are $5 adults, $3 seniors and free for students. For information, call 715-394-8115 or email email@example.com.
