UWS event to help kids reach for the stars

Research center celebrates 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing with space-themed activities

The University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Transportation and Logistics Research Center hosts a free educational event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

The event is July 20 from 1-3 p.m. in the Yellowjacket Union Great Room, 1605 Catlin Ave.

With many air and space-related activities taking place that day throughout the Northland, this event is designed for families with young children who are looking for a free educational option to add to their plans.

“The landing of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the moon’s surface July 20, 1969, marked one of the most significant human achievements,” said Daniel Rust, UWS Transportation & Logistics assistant professor. “Fifty years ago, the historic event prompted people of all ages to strive for the seemingly impossible. UWS is delighted to bring the community together with fun and educational activities inspiring the next generation to reach for the stars.”

The event for children pre-K through fifth grade and their parents or guardians, and will feature a variety of space-themed educational and interactive exhibits:
